Apprenticeships in Australia

03 July 2015 by News Desk

edu_toolsIf you are looking for an apprenticeship or traineeship, the Australian Apprenticeship Support Network providers can help match you to an employer, support you during the sign-up to the training contract and assess your eligibility for Commonwealth Government incentives and Trade Support Loans.

AASN providers can also offer individual screening, testing, streaming and matching services to help you select the apprenticeship, occupation or training pathway that is most suited to you. These services will work to ensure you are best-suited to an apprenticeship or traineeship and are the right fit for the job.

If you have already found an employer, contact an AASN provider to talk about getting your apprenticeship/traineeship started.

What apprenticeships are available?

If you need information about which apprenticeships/traineeships are available and what’s involved in the training, or advice about what sort of apprenticeship/traineeship you would be best suited to, your Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider can help.

For general career advice, visit the A-Z of Occupations on the Department of Training and Workforce Development’s Career Centre website. Here you will find information about different jobs, occupations and careers and details about whether an apprenticeship or traineeship option is available for a particular occupation.

You could also look at the Australian Apprenticeships Pathways website, which allows you to select from a list of industry groups and see which apprenticeships/traineeships are available in that area. It will also give you details about the qualification(s) that make up the apprenticeship.

The Department of Training and Workforce Development’s Apprenticeship Office regulates the apprenticeship system in Western Australia. The Office also audits training plans, assesses employers’ suitability to train their apprentice(s), and ensures that regulatory requirements are maintained across the apprenticeship/traineeship system. The Apprenticeship Office also provides a dispute resolution service for employers and apprentices/trainees where disagreement may arise under the training contract.
