75yrs for Brisbane Story Bridge
04 July 2015 by News DeskTens of thousands of people gathered at the Story Bridge in Brisbane to mark the structure’s 75th anniversary.
The kilometre-long, heritage-listed steel bridge was closed to traffic as 74,000 people enjoyed live entertainment and food stalls. Mayor Graham Quirk said: “People are in good spirits and they are loving the opportunity to enjoy the view from the centre of the bridge.”
The six-lane bridge linking Fortitude Valley with Kangaroo Point took five years to build and was completed in July 1940.
