3% rise in Australia health spending
06 October 2015 by News DeskThe total amount spent by health services in Australia has risen by 3.1%, according to latest available figures.
Total expenditure on health was $154.6 billion in 2013-14, an increase of 3.1% on the preceding year and represents 9.8% of national GDP. Growth in health expenditure per person was $6,639 – $94 more than in 2012-13.
Australian state Governments provided $104.8 billion (or 67.8%) of total health expenditure. The non-government sector share of total expenditure increased from 30.0% in 2012 to 32.2% in 2014.
Funding by individuals by private healthcare was the fastest growing area of non-government sector expenditure over the decade, according to The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare.
