The most expensive suburb to rent a house is in Brisbane’s western suburb of Pullenvale while one of the cheapest places to rent a unit is North Lakes.
In Pullenvale it costs an average of $850 per week to rent a house – up to $100 more than any other Brisbane suburb.
Second-most-expensive for house rent is Chelmer, on Brisbane River, with an average cost of $740 p.w. Brookfield is the third most-expensive suburb with an average of $700 per week, according to a new survey by Domain Group.
Local real estate agents, however, say rental prices are now starting to fall in these suburbs.
The cost of renting a unit in Brisbane is most expensive in Tennyson, with an average weekly cost of $693. Brisbane’s central business district is second most-expensive at $550. Third is Teneriffe in the city’s inner-north where unit rents cost an average of $530 per week.
In the Redland area, average rental cost for a house in Wellington Point is $480 per week, with average unit rents at $433 per week.
Renting a house in the suburb of Thornlands will cost an average $495 per week, while renting in Mount Cotton will cost $465.
Cost of renting a unit in Ormiston will cost an average of $420 p.w., while units in Cleveland cost $410 p.w. to rent.
In Newport, a suburb of Moreton Bay, average house rents are $650 p.w. The cost of renting a unit in nearby Everton Hills will cost an average of $380 per week. Renting a house in Scarborough costs $360 p.w., and in North Lakes a house will cost an average of $355 per week.
