Record exports for Northern Territory

07 July 2015 by News Desk

ind_cattleThe Northern Territory of Australia has set a new record for the export of live cattle.

More than 613,470 head of cattle were exported from Darwin Port in the last financial year, a 51% increase on 2014’s record of 406,055 head.

Chief Minister Adam Giles said: “Growth of the live export industry has been spectacular and is worth $230 million per year for the Northern Territory economy. The industry will play an integral part in the development of the north as Asian demand for Australian beef will continue to increase.”
