Queensland tops car cost list
29 May 2015 by News DeskDrivers in Queensland are to face above-inflation increases in vehicle registration fees.
Registration costs are set to rise from $328.90 to $340.40 for four-cylinder cars and from $492.30 to $509.50 for six-cylinder ones, excluding insurance.
The increase will make Queensland the most expensive place in Australia to own a car.
The previous government had frozen registration costs for three years. But Deputy Premier Jackie Trad says the rise in fees is necessary to finance vital road infrastructure.
The increases will apply from July 1.
