Psychologist job in Sydney

sydneyharbourbridge01Sydney Youth Cancer Service is seeking to employ a Clinical Psychologist to fill a full time position in Sydney, Australia.

Sydney Youth Cancer Service is part of national program to establish a network of adolescent and young adult cancer services across Australia. The YCS seeks to improve the quality of life and outcomes for young people affected by cancer and to enhance supportive care services for them and their families.

The primary purpose:
To provide evidence- based psychological assessment and intervention to referred patients, who are undergoing treatment and for their families and/or support people where appropriate.
Facilitate cancer support groups as required.

Selection Criteria
1. Full registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA and a recognised Post Graduate Qualification and endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist.
2. Demonstrated ability to work independently and to prioritise workload.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based psychology practice for the range of psychological disorders and problematic issues commonly occurring in adolescents and young adults with cancer.
4. Demonstrated skills in the individual and group clinical psychology treatment of adolescents and young adults with physical health problems.
5. Demonstrated ability to liaise with the multidisciplinary team and patients and their families.
6. Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication.
7. Demonstrated ability to undertake psychological assessment and intervention across a variety of modalities as needed, including face-to-face and telephone.
Experience in delivering psychology services using online video-conferencing (telehealth) is also desirable.
