Perth gets much-needed rainfall

23 June 2015 by News Desk

rainfallThe city of Perth and swathes of Western Australia have received a welcome boost with heavy rain over the weekend.

A major weather front has brought much-needed rain to the city and farming regions of southern Western Australia. It is the start of the agricultural growing season and WA’s wheat belt needs the rain.

A front developed from the north west and started dumping rain from Saturday evening and over the weekend across much of the southern half of the state.

Heavy rain has fallen across most of the agricultural areas and into the Goldfields, reports the Bureau of Meteorology. There’s been very heavy rainfall in the central western wheat belt with up to 60mm in some areas.

Average rainfall for June in the Perth area is 128 millimetres. So far this month 91 millimetres of rain has fallen and more rain is expected over the coming week.
