Migrate to Australia: Sydney

02 August 2016 by csf-admin

Migrate to Australia: Detached houses in Sydney will become a rarity in future as the inner city is running out of space.

Migrate to AustraliaMigrate to Australia: Sydney is surrounded by a natural boundary comprising the western Blue Mountains and the Hawkesbury in the north of the city.

“The recent construction boom in Sydney has seen thousands of new apartments built in the city,” says Darrell Todd, founder of thinkingaustralia. “High rise and apartment living is increasingly popular and, for those wanting to migrate to Australia in future, it will be the norm mainly due to a lack of space for traditional detached housing”.

Around 60 per cent of Sydneysiders live in low-density detached homes. But the city cannot sustain the same type of housing in coming years. This is why around 60 per cent of new housing ¬is ¬medium to high density apartments and townhouses.

Almost 20 per cent of all Australians now live in Sydney. And the city’s population is growing by 1600 new residents every week.

This month new official census data is expected to show that Sydney is now home to five million people – an all-time record high.

Inner-city suburbs such as Pyrmont/Ultimo and Waterloo/Beaconsfield are witnessing the highest population growth. Thousands of new apartments are being built to meet demand from city newcomers.

New high-density housing in Sydney’s northwest and southwest corridors continue to drive the city’s population growth.

In the Macarthur region, suburbs such as Oran Park, Leppington, Cobbitty and Catherine Hill have seen growth of up to 232 per cent, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Kellyville Ridge in northwest Sydney has grown by around 4,000 residents while nearby Stanhope Gardens has seen similar level of expansion.
Ryde and Parramatta have both seen around 3,000 new residents since the last census was taken in 2011.
