Australia IT jobs: seven year project

03 August 2016 by csf-admin

Australia IT jobs will be created to deliver the massive project that is set to last seven years.

Australia IT jobsAustralia IT jobs: the government is seeking system integrators capable of replacing the country’s out-dated mainframe payments system with SAP.

The project, called the Welfare Payment Infrastructure Transformation Programme, is one of Australia’s biggest national IT projects to date.

Australia has traditionally used a CCA IBM-compatible database at the heart of its national welfare payments system.

The 45 year old database remains at the core of a vital IT system that distributes hundreds of millions of dollars each day.

Tender documents related to the project show that SAP has been chosen as the preferred route relating to software. The government now plans to assemble a number of system integrator companies to complete the job.

A maximum of six different companies will be able to compete for all or various parts of five separate ‘tranches’ or phases of the project.

The first phase of the project involves research, sorting out the team and improving digital access to services.

Second phase of the project involves building a system for payments to students. This platform will be the core foundation that will be used on other phases of the project.

Phase three will involve building the platform for income support payments to the unemployed and students.

Phase for of the project will involve four family support payments. This is the most high-risk part of the project as these payments are made to millions of households across Australia.

Phase five of the project involves the platform to deliver Aged Care payments to the elderly,

The entire project is expected to be completed in seven years with delivery of phase five.
