Migrate to Australia and find your gold

25 August 2016 by News Desk

Migrate to Australia where one lucky ‘digger’ has this week found a huge gold nugget worth $250,000.

Migrate to AustraliaMigrate to Australia, in particular Central Victoria, where the gold nugget weighing over 4kg was found.

The discovery was made in on the southern edge of central Victoria’s Golden Triangle.

Minelab, the company that makes the metal detector that helped in the search to find the prize, believes the 145-ounce nugget, named Friday’s Joy, could be worth $250,000.

The lucky prospector, who prefers to remain anonymous, told reporters that he found the nugget about 12 inches under the ground. “At first I thought it was rubbish, maybe an old horseshoe,” he said.

The prospector reveals: “As I began to scrape away the clay and dig deeper I couldn’t believe my eyes – it wasn’t just an old piece of steel in front of me”.

Minelab said the extra-lucky prospector, who has spent every weekend for the past ten years searching for gold and coins, had found a 9-ounce nugget the day before.

The unnamed man said he now plans to use some of the money to buy a van and travel around Australia.

The gold nugget is now being kept in a safe and a replica will be made for the prospector to keep.

A similar gold nugget found near Ballarat and weighing over 3.5 kilograms was sold at auction in 2014 for $292,800.
