Johnny Depp faces 10yrs jail in Australia
30 May 2015 by News DeskJohnny Depp could be jailed for ten years for smuggling his pet dogs into Australia.
Australian governmental officials say that Hollywood star Depp could be jailed for up to 10 years or fined up to $340,000 for illegally bringing his two dogs, Pistol and Boo, into the country. Australia has strict quarantine laws and Depp did not declare the animals when he entered the country via private jet to work on a new Pirates of the Caribbean film.
Australia’s Agriculture Department is now investigating how Depp’s dogs managed to get into the country undiscovered. They were caught after an Australian groomer posted a photo of the pups on Facebook. Australia’s Minister for Agriculture Barnaby Joyce threatened to have the dogs put down if they were not immediately returned to the U.S.
While Depp could face jail time of up to 10 years, his pilot could also face up to two years for his part in not declaring the presence of Pistol and Boo.
