Canberra is around half the price of Sydney and Melbourne for 24 hours of short-term parking.

Prices in Canberra were relatively similar to Darwin, Adelaide and Cairns.

Sydney and Melbourne ranked 31st and 33rd respectively out of 336 airports in the 2016 Airport Car Parking Study and prices there were close to 45 per cent less than the major UK airport with the highest parking charges.

Australian airports have a slightly higher average than around Asia and the rest of the world.

A key finding of the study was in relation to online booking tools, a new trend been taken up by 40 per cent of global airports.

Canberra is one of the few airports in Australia that doesn’t have an online booking tool for its airport.

The Airport Car Parking Study is the most comprehensive examination of airport car parking prices, pricing structures and management practices ever undertaken, covering 336 airports across three regions, 23 sub-regions and 70 different countries.

The 336 airports in the Study account for more than 5 billion passenger movements per annum.
