Job summary
The Red Hat Software Engineering team is seeking a User Experience and Web Designer to join us in Brisbane, Australia.

In this role, you will work with multiple groups of developers and other designers to create high quality wireframes and working prototypes for existing web applications.

You’ll need to have solid experience building dynamic, rich interfaces using the latest front-end technologies including HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Produce reference prototypes using web technologies
  • Work together with engineering teams and other designers to set and meet goals and milestones
  • Critique workflows and views as well as ideate solution proposals
  • Apply responsive design techniques and adaptive layouts
  • Design for graceful degradation and progressive enhancement
  • Conduct simple user studies and produce style tiles
  • Implement for visual priority, task frequency and workflow procedure
  • Work confidently with CSS preprocessors and modern templating engines

Required skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in interaction design, visual design, human computer interaction, human factors, computer science, or a closely related area
  • Total grasp of HTML5 and CSS3
  • Professional experience with the user interface design process and methodology, particularly as applied to web-based applications
  • A good aesthetic sensibility
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams with minimal supervision
  • Experience with agile development and open source projects is an advantage
