Australian Job Vacancies

21 May 2016 by News Desk

Australian Job Vacancies - As the country continues to balance its economy, workers now in most demand are those with skills in hi-tech industries.

Australian Job VacanciesIn recent years many Australian Job Vacancies have been driven by shortages in the service, construction and mining industries.

But this is changing fast with new hi-tech science, medical, IT and research skills now greatly in demand.

“If you have the skills needed by Australia you could be fast-tracked into a job within a matter of months,” says Darrell Todd, founder of thinkingaustralia.

Here’s a snapshot of job prospects across the country and some of the Australian job vacancies that are currently available.

Professional and white-collar workers, Hi-Tech, IT and research specialists are in demand in Canberra.

“Whether you’re bricklayer, nurse or research scientist – you’ll earn more, live better and enjoy more sunshine in Canberra”, says Simon Kinsmore of the migration department of Canberra government.

Multi-billions of planned inbound investment, jobs and wealth creation is making South Australia attractive to migrants. “In recent years S.A has boasted record levels of employment and private business investment,” says Darrell Todd. “The state economy has also been boosted by $45 billion investment in major infrastructure projects. Mineral exploration has increased ten fold in recent years and job prospects are the best they have been for 30 years.”

A new $8 billion Liquid Gas project is fuelling jobs growth in North Eastern Australia. The Queensland Gas Company and UK’s BG Group have invested $8 billion in a liquefied natural gas plant to meet export demand. New coal seam gas fields, a 236-mile pipeline and production plant has fuelled job prospects in the state.

Queensland has been the top destination for jobs and lifestyle among 25-34 year-olds with NSW and Victoria the second and third preferred states. “The population of Queensland, like in other major cities, is changing fast,” says Darrell Todd. “Ten years ago only 5% of migrants to Queensland were aged 65 or over. Now the majority of new arrivals are under 34.’

Over 40,000 new workers have arrived in Western Australia in recent years to meet export demands of the resources industries. Most jobs have been filled by workers on 457 visas, lasting up to four years.

“The 457 visa has been the traditional route into Australia for many skilled workers,” says Darrell Todd. “This visa is often the start of a path to permanent residency for those seeking to migrate full-time.”

Hi-tech workers most in demand

As Australia re-balances its economy following the mining boom, workers now in most demand are those with skills in new hi-tech industries.

Workers in demand include those skilled in Science and Engineering, bio-medial and research science and mechanical engineering. “State-sponsored visa migrants are fast-tracked to waiting jobs. The Intellectual Property sector is growing and workers are needed to fill vacancies,” says Darrell Todd.

In Canberra, there are thousands of State-sponsored jobs available including construction, social services and welfare and ICT professionals. “If you have the skills we’re looking for, you could be considered as part of the Government-sponsored visa scheme. Canberra is a safe, pollution-free and family-friendly city and should be a real consideration for migrant workers,” says Simon Kinsmore.
