13 August 2015 by News DeskNew movies starring Kate Winslet, Anthony LaPaglia and Oscar-winning director Scott Hicks’ latest film will be highlights of this years’ Adelaide Film Festival.
Hollywood star Kate Winslet (pictured) will feature in new movie The Dressmaker, based on Rosalie Ham’s novel. The film, also starring Liam Hemsworth and Judy Davis, will be one of the headline attractions at the festival that opens on October 15.
The world premiere of Scott Hicks’ Highly Strung – filmed in Adelaide and a story of obsession surrounding rare 18th-century Guadagnini violins, and featuring the Australian String Quartet – is also a must-see movie.
Other highlights include A Month of Sundays, a comedy-drama by director Matt Saville (The Slap) which was filmed in Adelaide and stars Anthony LaPaglia. Rosemary Myers, artistic director of Adelaide’s Windmill Theatre, will make her film directing debut with Girl Asleep, an adaptation of the company’s play presented at last year’s Adelaide Festival.
Sam Klemke’s Time Machine movie documents every year of his life beginning in 1977, while there will also be a 21st anniversary screening of Rolf de Heer’s cult classic Bad Boy Bubby at Port Adelaide’s Waterside Workers Hall during the Festival.
More movies and associated events are due to be announced in September.
