300,000 new jobs in Australia

More than 300,000 new jobs were created in Australia in 2015.

In the last three months of the year employment growth ran almost 2% higher than the annual average since 2000 according to the latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Of the 301,300 new jobs created in 2015 most – 187,200 – have been full time positions, with overall jobs growth strongest of any year since 2006 Around 30,300 people found new jobs each month during the last quarter of 2015, according to the ABS’ December Labour Force survey.

And there’s also been an increase in the number of jobs advertised in national media. Job adverts in mid 2015 increased by around 11.4% compared to the same period in 2014 according to the December 2015 ANZ Job Advertisement Index.

The unemployment rate in Australia, at 5.8%, has also improved over the last three months.
