08 May 2015 by News Desk

property_buildingWestern Australia will see 23,000 new homes built in the state in the coming 12 months.

The Housing Industry Forecasting Group has predicted that there would be 23,000 dwelling commencements in 2015/16, a 23 per cent decrease on original forecasts.

A new report by the H.I.F.G says even though there will be a fall in new homes being built, the numbers were at a “healthy level” and was still above the long-term annual average of 22,000 dwelling starts since 2000/01.

In 2014 a record 150,000 workers were employed in the construction industry in Western Australia, around 10 per cent of the state’s total workforce. And 2014 also saw new house sales reach a five-year high
