Travel to Australia: Beijing to Sydney flights

Travel to Australia where the new daily service will be operated on an A330-200 aircraft from 25 January 2017, subject to regulatory approval.

Travel to AustraliaTravel to Australia via Sydney Airport where Kerrie Mather, Sydney Airport Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming Qantas’ new service from Beijing to Sydney in January, which will deliver an additional 171,000 seats a year on the route.

“The new Qantas service is expected to further boost tourism to Sydney by providing additional capacity to cater to strong demand from Chinese visitors, particularly during the popular Lunar New Year period.

“It will also provide Sydneysiders with more choice when travelling to Beijing, which is the home of tourist attractions including the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City.

“This new service from Beijing will coincide with the Australia-China Year of Tourism in 2017, which we’ll be working to promote alongside our industry and government partners.”

Travel to Australia: Qantas Beijing to Sydney flights

The new service will complement Qantas’ existing services from Shanghai and Hong Kong, increasing Qantas’ flights between Greater China and Sydney. China Eastern will codeshare on Qantas’ new Beijing service.

Sydney Airport is the world’s leading airport for long haul Chinese routes, with seven airlines serving 12 mainland Chinese cities.

The China market is Sydney Airport’s largest international visitor market based on residency and grew by 17% in the year ending June 2016.

The airport has implemented a suite of initiatives to welcome Chinese visitors, including Mandarin speaking Airport Ambassadors; information available in simplified Chinese both in- terminal and online; supporting events such as Lunar New Year; and tailored retail, food and beverage offerings.
