No Mel Gibson for new Mad Max

Australian director George Miller has explained why Mel Gibson does not star in the fourth Mad Max movie.
Aussie actor Mel Gibson starred in the first three films as Max Rockatansky (Mad Max) and helped make the movies both cult classics and commercially successful worldwide. But Gibson will not be seen in the latest Mad Max movie, ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ which opens in cinemas this month.
Miller said: “The rumour went around that Mel might do a cameo in the new movie but we were trying hard to make this world authentic and it didn’t make sense to suddenly have Mel appear. I don’t think he would have done it anyway.”
The director, who made the three original Mad Max movies, added: “Mel had hit a lot of turbulence in his life and it was also never meant to be a story about an older warrior so it was time for a new Mad Max.”
