NASA ‘UFO’ lands in Australia

28 April 2015 by News Desk

ent_flyingsaucerA suspected UFO landed in Australia – but turned out to be a NASA research balloon.

Residents reported a number of suspected UFO sightings over Queensland before NASA’s new Super Pressure Balloon was forced to land after completing one-third of its planned 100-day flight. “Controllers detected a leak developing in the balloon and for safety, issued flight termination command over a remote area near the Queensland and New South Wales border just east of Australia’s Sturt National Park”, a NASA statement said.

Launched from New Zealand’s Wanaka Airport on March 26, the heavy lift balloon achieved one of its scientific aims, maintaining an altitude of 110,000 feet (33.5 kilometres) through the flight. Made from 22 acres of material and filled with helium, the Super Pressure Balloon is designed to carry up to 8,000 pounds (3,600-plus kilos) of scientific payloads.

(Editor’s note: No pictures of the NASA balloon are available, but we’ve managed to find a picture of a ‘real’ UFO….)
