21 September 2016 by News Desk

Migrate to Australia and communicate at super-fast speeds across 21st century fibre-optic networks.

Migrate to AustraliaMigrate to Australia where a new high speed network is now spreading out from Australia via subsea fibre-optic cables across the Pacific that will connect Australia to South America in addition to Africa and the Middle East.

French company Alcatel-Lucent is working with Australian hi-tech and telecoms companies to roll out the new hi-speed network that will boost the Aussie economy.

Alcatel-Lucent currently holds the distance record for undersea data transmission over more than 10,000 km.

Nextgen Group and Alcatel-Lucent Submarine Networks have opened Australia’s first purpose-built subsea fibre-optic cable network.

The North West Cable System links Darwin in the Northern Territory to Port Hedland in Western Australia.

The high-speed data link is now integrated into Nextgen’s 17,000km national transmission network and Metronode’s national network of data centres providing immediate benefits to communities in the Northern Territory and Western Australia connected to the cable.

The new 2100km fibre-optic network will service the oil and gas industries and the growing need for world-class telecommunications services in Australia’s North West growth corridor.

The US$139m cable system not only provides support for Australia’s offshore oil and gas projects but promotes competition with new telecoms infrastructure for businesses and consumers in regional communities.

“High-speed connectivity has now emerged as a vital component to operate any business regardless of geographical location – be it 200km offshore – or in remote and regional Australia,” said Nextgen Group CEO, David Yuile.

“The North West Cable System will deliver a digital dividend to Australia’s resources sector and to regional communities in Australia’s North West”.
