John Bishop tour of Australia

20 October 2015 by News Desk

ent_JohnBishop01Liverpool comedian John Bishop kicked off his tour of Australia by meeting a football legend – from a rival team.

The 49yr old star – a lifelong supporter of Liverpool FC – was appearing at the opening night of his tour in Perth when he unknowingly picked out from the audience a player from rival team Everton.

John was talking with members of the audience when he picked out Everton legend Mick Lyons. Former Everton captain Lyons, who lives in Western Australia, ended up on stage playing the straight man to Bishop in a penalty shoot-out.

“He asked why I’d come to Australia and I told him because of football. He then asked which team I’d played for in England and when I said ‘Everton’ he started giving me some stick and taking the mickey,” said Lyons

Bishop, a well-known football ‘nut’, is known for his charity work having raised £4.2m for UK Sport Relief in 2012.
