Emigrate to Australia? Try this…
18 July 2016 by News DeskThere’s an idyllic island on the Great Barrier Reef that could be perfect if you're seeking to emigrate to Australia.
Emigrate to Australia and live in your own island paradise – as long as you have thirty million dollars to spare.
Keswick Island on the Great Barrier Reef was first discovered by Captain Cook during his historic maiden voyage around the world.
The sub-tropical island, located 32km off the coast of Mackay comes complete with its’ own airstrip, a few houses and an extinct volcano.
Cars are banned on the island and residents travel around using golf buggies.
The original owner spent 20 years following his personal dream to develop the island into a tourist haven but sold up eight years ago.
Now the new owners, Keswick Developments, have put the island up for sale and it could well be transformed into the tourist resort originally planned.
Emigrate to Australia – your own private island
The island comes with a 117-hectare development lease granted by the Queensland government until 2096. The remainder of the island is a designated national park.
Anyone who buys the island will also get the rights to develop a 25-hectare, 180-berth marina and deep water jetty.
The terms of the lease granted by the Queensland government allow for 1,000 residential dwellings and a total future population 3,000 people.
The island has 150 sub-divided lots and includes basic key infrastructure to allow for future development.
“If you are planning to emigrate to Australia Keswick Island would be the perfect destination,” says Darrell Todd, founder of thinkingaustralia. “But unfortunately you’ll need $30 million to buy this particular island paradise”.
