Coronavirus Australia ‘slowdown’
11 April 2020 by News DeskCoronavirus Australia – Covid-19 could be on the wane as the number of people each COVID-19 patient then goes on to infect continues to fall.
Deputy Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly announced the positive news while warning against wrongful claims that a cure had been found.
He said that shutdowns and social distancing must remain in full force, especially during the Easter long weekend.
But not everyone is complying and, in past 24 hours, NSW Police has handed out around 50 fines of $1000 for social distancing breaches.
The death toll across Australia stands at 54. Globally the toll is almost 96,000 while more than 350,000 people have recovered, according to Johns Hopkins University data
In Britain, there is also cautious optimism that the outbreak may be nearing its peak
