Young women embraced Facebook’s Friends Day by sharing picture galleries and Adidas’ ongoing campaign against discrimination towards LGBTIQ athletes also hit peak trend status

On Instagram, Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds scored highly among men of all ages. Comedy actor Kevin Hart hit a trend during a visit to Australia to promote his new movie. Release of the new Zoolander movie got Aussies trending after a PR stunt on the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Sporting-mad Australians found plenty to talk about on Instagram with the start of the Australian rugby season. The American Super Bowl event was also an example of Aussies top facebook habits as it trended across both platforms.

The US primaries scored high on social media down under with both leading Republican and Democrat candidates trending on Facebook. Australian politics filled social media last month when Malcolm Turnbull discussed the date for a national election, according to the report by Global Insights.

“Aussies top facebook habits are not confined to sport and social life,” says Darrell Todd, CEO of thinkingaustralia.

“Social media is now an important tool in finding a job. You can use social media accounts to post your CV, or a video, for prospective employers to view. You can also identify and follow a range of potential employers to find out more about work opportunities.

“Many employers check people’s social media pages when they apply for a job. If you are looking for work, be careful what pictures you post online!”
