Brisbane snowman strikes gold
09 July 2015 by News DeskBrisbane in Australia is the home of the world’s most successful snow-maker.
Alf Bucceri has been making snow since 1985 and his snow and ice making machines are used in more than 50 ski resorts and indoor snow parks around the world, including Japan, China and United Arab Emirates.
Alf’s freezing machines can produce 150 cubic metres of snow an hour, which has provided a major boost to the indoor ski resort industry as it allows them to guarantee their openings and provide longer snow seasons.
Community-minded Alf has put his snow-makers to good work in Brisbane over the school holidays. He has set up a Snow and Slide Park at the Riverstage in the City Botanic Gardens, where 20 tons of snow has been sculpted into an eight-lane, 30m-long toboggan slide. At The Courier-Mail Piazza at South Bank Parklands he has a Snow4Kids park with 30 tons of snow to entertain children 8 years and under.
Snowman Alf is now aiming at new markets in China, where the country’s skiing population is expected to grow from five million to 100 million.
