Turnover among restaurants in Australia increased in the last three months of 2009.

Latest figures from the A.B.S. show that overall trade across the Café, Restaurant & Takeaway Food Service sector rose by 2.5%.

Food Retailing, including supermarkets, bakers and fresh food stores, recorded a sales decline of 1.3%.

Woolworths reported a 4.2% increase in sales for the first half of 2009, with their food and liquor division recording slower growth in the second quarter - 5.9%, compared to 6.8% in the first quarter

According to the A.B.S., in seasonally adjusted volume terms, retail turnover rose 1.1% in the December quarter 2009
