UK house prices have risen for the seventh consecutive month, according to the Halifax.
The average UK home is valued at 3.6% higher in January compared to a year earlier, at £169,777. Since April 2009, house prices have risen by an average of £15,287
An increase in availability of mortgages has helped to boost the market. The number of mortgages on offer has risen 20%, according to Moneyfacts. Some of these new deals requiring a deposit of just 10%.
