Internet users in Canberra can now enjoy latest hi-speed broadband thanks to a new fibre network, writes Nick Gibson.
Communications Minister Stephen Conroy officially launched the new network built by telecoms company TransACT and part of a new fibre-to-the-premises network that serves suburbs in the nation's capital. The network delivers data speeds of 100 megabits per second.
The new network will operate in parallel to the Government's planned new $43bn national broadband network.
