If you are an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen, you may be able to sponsor your orphan relative for migration to Australia.
The sponsor must be the orphan's brother or sister, grandparent, uncle or aunt, or niece or nephew (or step equivalents). |
What are the visa requirements for an Orphan Relative visa ? |
You can apply for an Orphan Relative visa if both of your parents are dead, permanently incapacitated or of unknown whereabouts and you :
- are not married or living in a defacto relationship,
- are under 18 years of age,
- are sponsored by a relative who is :
- an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen,
- either your brother, sister, grandparent, aunt, uncle, niece or nephew (or step equivalents),
- living and lawfully resident in Australia for a reasonable period (usually two years) if you are applying in Australia,
- aged 18 years and over,
- have permission to migrate from any person with legal responsibility towards you.
