For a Dependent Child (temporary) visa, a child must be the dependent child of their parent who is the holder of a :
- subclass 309 Spouse (provisional) visa,
- subclass 310 Interdependency (provisional) visa,
- subclass 445 Dependent Child (temporary) visa,
- subclass 820 Spouse (provisional) visa, or
- subclass 826 Interdependency visa.
This parent is termed the 'visa-holding parent'. The child must also :
- be sponsored by his/her visa-holding parent's sponsor,
- satisfy public interest criteria, and
- satisfy custody criteria.
There is no age limit or requirement that the applicant be a full-time student for this visa.
A child under 18 is automatically a Dependent Child.
A child 18 or over has to be financially reliant on their visa-holding parent for the majority of their basic needs for food, clothing and shelter. |
